Ne znam...verovatno zato što je ovde bila veća razlika i teže za stizanje. Stizanje rezultata od 1-4 nije bila velika retkost i dešavalo se s vremena na vreme, takvih primera ima na stotine, ali 2-6...

After a win over excelletn Romanians, Partizan qualified for UEFA Cup group stage for the third time and secured European matches until mid-December, the least and yet another improvement for our club`s coefficient. What more can one desire?

Partizan managed it, but it was far from easy. We warned earlier that the joib is not yet done and so it was. One true European encounter, search for the resultand chances both ways. Partizan is through, 3-1 on agg, with draw for the UEFA Cup group stage being scheduled for Tuesday, 7th of October.

Around 16,000 spectators at Humska St., all in a very good mood. Positive vibrations spread from minute one, with packed South stand givin` outstanding support.

724_1.jpg

Romanians entered the match better and in early exchanges ball was more at Partizan half. Stancu took the right edge of the box shot on 10, but ball passed right by the post. On the other side, Diarra tried to lob keeper Pantilimon but the ball went over the bar. Diarra also answered to Stevanovic`s cross minute later, but his 12 metre header went wide. Lazic for Stevanovic on 23, but his storming right side run and a low cross for Bogunovic were all in vain, as Bogunovic was slightly late to take on this ball.

Visitors threatening again on 28. Bukur was fouled some 18 metres from Partizan goal, but Goga`s free-kick was easy for Bozovic to save.

Tosic had his moment of play on 30. He was playing with 3 or 4 Timisoara defenders, dribbling them all around, but was finally fouled after some 30 seconds of enjoyable and witty play. Yellow card for Timisoara captain Alexa

Another danger fort Bozovic on 38. Timisoara counter-attack, Bukur play it for Goga who shoots well wide.

Second half sees Timisoara taking more risks as they need at least two goals to progress further. That gives space for Partizan players and on 52 Stevanovic is first to miss a great chance. His header after Tosic`s corner bounces of the crossbar.

Opportunity for Romanians on 56. Goga takes a nice 20-metre shot just by the left post. Corner-kick for Timisoara on 57 and Magera just late to capitalize on far post. Lucky there.

Partizan takes over on the hour and in the next 20 minutes the full pressure is on Timisoara.
Quick Partizan counter-attack on 62, but Bogunovic fails to send a proper pass for Diarra and away defense clears it.

On 69, Juca`s header was cleared away by Pantilimion and Diarra`a shot that followed was saved too.

724_3.jpg

On 70, Humska Street exploded. Sub Petrovic won the challenge some 30 metres in Partizan half, passes it to Juca who sends it ofr Stevanovic. He runned with it some 10 metres before taking a 18 metre shot that bounced of Pantilimion and the right poist into the net. 1-0 Partizan.

Youngster Petrovic showed he has no fear of important matches. He gave a scare to Pantilimion on 73, shooting from some 20 metres out, but away keeper saved it.

One promising Partizan counter-attack on 81 finished with a 20 metre shot just wide fro Tosic.

Ina last 10 minutes of the game, gueststhreatened twice. Goga hit the outside netting from only a few yards, while Bukur managed to shake of Stevanovic on 83 but his 10 metre left side shot was somehow saved by the feet of keeper Bozovic.

724_5.jpg

Partizan calmed the match down in a dying minutes and after the last whistle of Portuguese ref Paixao, Partizan is officilly part of UEFA Cup group stage.

724_6.jpg

On a Tuesday`s draw Partizan will find itself in a pot 4. Partizan missed out on a pot 3, neednig two more favourites to slip. But, that`s all but important, now.

Dusan Uhrin, Timisoara coach, after the game:

- I`m happy, as we played well, but were unlucky to score which was crucial. We manged to play even more offensive football in a second half and with a possible goal scored we would have some chance of progressing. It turns out first leg was a key to full tie.
Partizan has good chances to make it big in UEFA Cup, as they are a very good side. I haven`t seen so focused and calm side in ages. We did our max and shouldn`t feel ashamed of anything. This has been a great experience for us.

Slavisa Jokanovic, Partizan coach:

- We had some opportunities at the early stages, but when we didn`t take them, visitors seized the oppportunity to threathen, particlarly from set-pieces. After we scored, there was more space to play and chances to score, while Timiosara introduced more attackers in their aim to get a result.
WE wo, picked up a few points for our football and reached our objective, but that`s just for this night. We are setting a new European aim, that being further progress in UEFA Cup and Europan Spring games.

Partizan retain perfect start with 2-0 Belgrade derby win

Reuters - October 6, 2008, 5:05 am
BELGRADE, Oct 5 (Reuters) - Serbian league leaders Partizan Belgrade went 13 points clear of bitter city rivals Red Star after they beat them 2-0 in a pulsating derby on Sunday to stretch their perfect start to seven matches.
Senegalese striker Lamine Diarra fired the champions ahead in the 56th minute and Brazilian midfielder Antonello Juca sealed the win in the final minute after both sides had a player sent off for dissent.
Partizan are at the top with 21 points, second-placed Vojvodina have 15 after Saturday's 1-0 home win over Napredak Krusevac while Red Star slipped three places to seventh in the 12-team first division.
Diarra missed a good chance for Partizan early on but the visitors were fortunate to be on level terms at halftime after the woodwork and two excellent saves by goalkeeper Mladen Bozovic denied Red Star the lead.
Partizan piled on the pressure after the break and Diarra latched onto a defence-splitting pass by Portuguese midfielder Almani Moreira to slide the ball past Sasa Stamenkovic.
Red Star defender Ibrahima Gueye and Moreira were shown red cards nine minutes later after exchanging blows and Nenad Milijas then hit the post for the home side with a superbly struck free kick.
Red Star threw caution to the wind in the closing stages and substitute Milos Bogunovic took full advantage when he raced clear and delivered a perfect low cross for Juca to sweep home from seven metres.
"We wanted to catch Red Star on the break and the game plan worked," Partizan coach Slavisa Jokanovic told a news conference. "I think we were outstanding in the second half and always in control after the first goal."
Red Star counterpart Cedomir Janevski bemoaned his side's costly mistakes.
"We tried to play attacking football and didn't deserve to lose because we matched them in every department, but a couple of defensive mistakes proved very costly."

Partizan Belgrad

United trial Serb starlet

Partizan confirm Ljajic stint

Last updated: 16th October 2008

Partizan Belgrade have confirmed that starlet Adem Ljajic is undergoing a trial at Manchester United.
The 17-year-old has caught the eye of a number of clubs in recent months and he shone during the recent Uefa European Under-19 Championship Qualifying round which was held in Northern Ireland.
The home side took on England, Albania and Ljajic's Serbia in their group - with all games being played over six days in Newry.
England progressed to the Elite Phase, but it was Ljajic's Serbia who shone with a perfect record, conceding just twice and scoring 12 times in their three games.
United were amongst the clubs watching in Northern Ireland and they have taken advantage of the fact that the youngster is already in Britain by getting him to Carrington for a trial spell.
Partizan agreement

Partizan confirmed they had agreed to the trial - dispelling claims that United had merely coaxed Ljajic into training with them.
"It is not true that Ljajic went to England without permission," the club's general secretary Darko Gubor told Nogomet.
"We have been in contact with Manchester United for some time now and Ljajic was with the international team in Britain at this moment so it was handy for him to go on trial now.
"We want to co-operate with Manchester United and this is only the first step.
"I repeat Ljajic went to Manchester with Partizan's permission and all I can say regarding his potential move to United is that he is still a very young player who is at the beginning of his career."
United are no strangers to scouting Partizan and were previously keen on Stevan Jovetic - who departed for Fiorentina in the summer.

Obradović pumped up for Partizan opener

Having captained FK Partizan for the first time last weekend, 20-year-old Ivan Obradović wants the Belgrade club to show they have "the strength" to reach the UEFA Cup knockout stage – starting against UC Sampdoria on Thursday.
Dizzying spell
It has been a dizzying autumn for Obradović. Still eligible for Serbia's Under-19s, the left-back was given his senior debut against the Faroe Islands in September and then scored on his third appearance in the 3-1 FIFA World Cup qualifying victory in Austria on 15 October. "Miraculous really," he told uefa.com. "It wasn't long ago that I was dreaming of playing for the U19s, and now I am at the highest level. I was sorry to miss the Olympics through injury, but I'm working hard, keeping the faith and enjoying my success."
New responsibilities
Obradović has also been taking on new responsibilities with his club –
replacing Nenad Djordjević as captain for Saturday's Superliga home draw with FK Javor Ivanjica. "Another great moment," he said. "To captain, aged only 20, the team where I have spent eight years of my career, even if for just one game ... I was proud, but in the end disappointed too. Javor sprung a surprise and it finished 2-2. I will remember the occasion, though, and forget the result. We are defending a domestic double and we can be successful again."
Tough opener
Partizan are also targeting success in Europe, where they have a tough UEFA Cup Group C curtain-raiser at home to Sampdoria. "This is a huge challenge for us," said Obradović, who has made 31 league outings in total. "Most of us Partizan players are young, but we really want to be among the big boys of European football – to try to establish ourselves at that level if possible. It will be difficult. Sampdoria are well-organised and, in Antonio Cassano, they have a top international, their most dangerous player."
Primary objective
Even so, Obradović is certain that he, for one, will not be starstruck. "I can say all sorts of nice things about our opponents and they deserve that praise, but we have to focus on our own ideas, tactics, strengths and responsibilities," he added. "If we think more about them than ourselves, it will be a disaster. Our main goal is to qualify for the next round and I believe we have the strength to do that."

Partizan clear as rivals falter

(Reuters) Wednesday 29 October 2008

Serbian champions Partizan Belgrade went seven points clear at the top of the first division after goals from Lamine Diarra and Almani Moreira gave them a 2-0 home win over Jagodina.

Second-placed Vojvodina Novi Sad suffered a 1-0 setback at bottom side Rad Belgrade while newcomers Javor Ivanjica moved up to third, nine points behind the leaders, thanks to a 1-0 victory at OFK Belgrade.
Former European Champions Red Star dented their slim title hopes with a 1-0 defeat at struggling Borac Cacak which left them in fifth place, 11 points off the pace.

Senegalese striker Diarra headed against the post as Partizan started purposefully and then fired the champions into a 12th-minute lead after a clever layoff by Djordje Lazic.
Both sides missed several good chances before Portuguese playmaker Moreira sealed Partizan's first win in three matches with a fine volley after chipping the ball over his marker.

Red Star succumbed to their fourth league defeat of the season after Darko Lazovic turned in a Nebojsa Prtenjak cross in the 85th minute to give 10th-placed Borac their first win.

Rad rekindled their hopes of avoiding relegation from the 12-team league with their first success in the top flight, courtesy of a Jovan Radivojevic effort on the half-hour.

Second-to-bottom Napredak Krusevac kept alive their own hopes of staying up with a 2-0 home win against Cukaricki Belgrade and Banat Zrenjanin moved into provisional safety with a 1-0 home defeat of Hajduk Kula.

And this news was in March this year and that speaks Juca was elected the best player of the season 2007/2008. Also speaks of the prize for most beautiful goal of the season, marked on the classic against Crvena Zvezda. Partizan’s Moreira scores a stunner

The jammed-packed week of football just past has taken a few days to digest, but as the next round of matches approach kick-off, there are two pieces of footage which require special attention

The first video to bring you comes from Serbia’s Super Liga, as league leaders Partizan Belgrade took on mid-table Jagodina at the Stadion Partizana. Leading 1-nil thanks to a first half strike from Lamine Diarra, the hosts made sure of the points with a wonder strike from vice-captain Almami Moreira (pictured) that brings back memories of Gazza’s solo stunner against Scotland in Euro ‘96.

Collecting a pass on the edge of the area, Moreira had the presence of mind to immediately flick the ball around the onrushing defender to advance him into the box, before he composed himself in front on two covering defenders by lifting the ball back in the air as he calculated his next move. And with the ball dropping from the sky, Moreira smacked the ball on the volley, his super strike ripping into the back of the net for the killer second of the game.

Moreira’s wonder-strike came be seen here - http://www.101greatgoals.com/videodisplay/1722243/

The second video comes from the Dutch Eredivisie...

Madrid enter Ljajic chase

Serbian starlet attracts attention of Europe's finest

Last updated: 4th November 2008

Ferguson: Offered Ljajic trial
Related links

Real Madrid are ready to renew old rivalries with Manchester United as they enter the race for Adem Ljajic, skysports.com understands.
The 17-year-old Partizan Belgrade midfielder, known as Little Kaka, impressed United's coaching staff last month after undergoing a trial at Old Trafford.
Ljajic has caught the eye of a number of clubs in recent months after shining for both his club domestically and for his country, in the recent European Under-19 Championship qualifying round.
United moved swiftly to make contact with the player, one of the most highly- rated young prospects in Europe, in offering him a trial in Manchester.
It is thought the Premier League champions are keen to secure Ljajic's services on a permanent basis, but could now face stiff competition from Real.
Relations between United and their Spanish counterparts are somewhat strained at present following the Cristiano Ronaldo saga over the summer and a recent exchange between Sir Alex Ferguson and Real president Ramon Calderon.

Interview: Stephane Lasme, Partizan
Three weeks into the 2008-09 season, among the new names at the top of the Euroleague performance charts is a complete newcomer to Europe and the first major pro player ever from the African country of Gabon. Although he's small for a shot-blocker, Stephane Lasme of Partizan Belgrade is certainly a pleasant surprise to the die-hard fans at Pionir Arena. Despite standing just 2.03 meters, Lasme so far ranks second among all Euroleague players in rebounds and blocked shots, not to mention fifth in overall performance index rating. Most importantly, Partizan is nestled in second place in tough Group D after winning two consecutive home games, against Real Madrid and Armani Jeans Milano, in spectacular fashion. If Lasme's high-flying blocks and rebounds were part of that show, however, so were the Partizan fans, who have surprised him with their high-volume show of devotion. "I've never seen anything like that before on a basketball court," Lasme told Euroleague.net. "I think both games were as loud as they can be. I can't imagine it any louder. They were both exciting as each other, both equally fun."

What were your impressions of Pionir Arena during the first Euroleague home game you won against Real Madrid?

"It was crazy, really crazy. I've never seen anything like that before on a basketball court. It was fun to be a part of it."

Did anyone prepare you beforehand for the Partizan crowd?

"Since I came here a few weeks ago, everybody had been asking me if I knew about the atmosphere at Pionir Arena. The truth is that I didn't know anything. I hadn't heard about the team or the fans before I signed here. So it was a very, very good surprise."

Were you tempted just to turn around watch the crowd sometimes?

"When I was on the bench, I took a look around, yeah. And honestly, I never saw that many people being so loud ever before. It was so noisy, something I had never heard on a basketball court. But I didn't let it affect me so much. I've been playing basketball for awhile now, so I know how to keep my mind clear and block out the fans a lot."

Did you call anyone afterwards and tell them about the atmosphere you witnessed?

"Yeah, I called and told all my friends from college about it, how amazing it was in the first game of the Euroleague season. Now they all want to come here and see it. None of them had ever heard about Partizan, either, so I'm the first one to experience something like this."

Was last week's 18-point comeback against Milano just as exciting or more?

"Honestly, I think both games were as loud as they can be. I can't imagine it any louder. They were both exciting as each other, both equally fun. And the last one against Milano was crazy on the court, too, because I had never played in a game where my team was down so much and came back like that. We just knew that we had made stupid mistakes first half. We have a good defensive team, so we told ourselves to start playing that defense in the second half, cut out the mistakes and go from there."

Are you learning anything different already in your first month or so in Europe?

"I'd say I am just learning a lot. With the type of coaching we have at Partizan, it's all about learning. There are a lot of young players like me, and that learning environment is a good thing for everybody. Coach Vujosevic is really big on teaching, so I am trying to learn as much as I can."

Going back to your early career. How did you get from Gabon to the University of Massachusetts?

"When I graduated from high school in Gabon, I went to Boston first to learn English at a language school. While I was there, I went to a basketball camp at the same time. From that camp, there was an all-star team that went to a game in New Jersey, and that's where they discovered me and started talking to me about going to UMass."

Before that, in Gabon, did you plan on a basketball career?

"I played for my high school and we traveled around Gabon. I remember I had talked about going to college with my high school coach and my parents, but I just wanted to get a degree and the education. I planned on trying to play basketball in the university, but I had no idea how big the sport was at that level until I was already on the team."

Does your specialty, shot-blocking, come naturally or did you learn it?

"It kind of came naturally to me. I never really thought about how to do it before I started doing it, so it was natural. I don't even think about it that much now. I just see the ball and try to block the shot. I don't think about it as something to work at."

Did you imagine as a young player in Africa that you might be where you are today, playing professionally in the Euroleague?

"When I was back home in Gabon, a couple of people told me that I might have a chance to play professionally, but I never took it seriously. I thought it was just talk. It was hard to imagine from there that there was a chance of being a pro like this. Now, I think I have a great opportunity to learn more, to experience another type of basketball. Belgrade is great so far, a nice city. I like it a lot and everybody is friendly. They say hi to me in the street, even before we started winning. It's nice and comfortable for me. Like I said, it's a great opportunity for me to build a future for my family, and like I said, to do what I love most, which is to play basketball."

BELGRADE - Fighting broke out among fans in Serbia's northern city Novi Sad ahead of Partizan Belgrade's match against title rivals Vojvodina on Wednesday and riot police arrested about a dozen supporters, local media reported.
The game ended in a goalless draw leaving Serbian champions Partizan top of the first division heading into the winter break with 37 points from 17 matches ahead of Vojvodina on 34 and Red Star Belgrade, who host Hajduk Kula later on Wednesday, with 30.
Partizan's Serbia winger Zoran Tosic received a standing ovation when he was substituted midway through the second half in what may have been his last match for the champions.
Belgrade daily Sportski Zurnal said Tosic was due to fly to England on Wednesday to agree personal terms with European champions Manchester United, who last month got a work permit to sign him for a reported eight million pounds ($11.83 million).
Serbian media also said the Premier League champions were still monitoring Partizan's teenage forward Adem Ljajic, who had a 10-day trial at Old Trafford in October.
Serbia's 12-team first division resumes on February 21, when Partizan host former European Cup winners Red Star in the so-called 'eternal derby'.

Former Serbia midfielder Paunovic retires

Reuters - Wednesday 24 December 2008, 19:13

BELGRADE - Former Serbia and Atletico Madrid midfielder Veljko Paunovic announced his retirement on Wednesday after being hampered by a string of injuries.
"I have decided to hang up my boots because I suffered with injuries in the first half of the season and there is no point in carrying on," the Partizan Belgrade player told B92 website.
"I was not happy with my performances at all and this is the right time to quit because I can neither improve nor play at top level any more."
Paunovic scored one goal in two appearances for his country but has not played international football since 2004.
Apart from Atletico, the 31-year-old had played for other Spanish clubs and reached the now defunct Cup Winners' Cup final with Mallorca in 1999.
He joined Partizan, where he had started his career in 1994, on a two-year deal in July but failed to win a regular first team place with the Serbian league leaders.
"Retirement kept crossing my mind in the first half of the season and I have no regrets because the atmosphere in the dressing room is great and these lads have plenty to look forward to," Paunovic said.
Partizan are three points ahead of closest rivals Vojvodina Novi Sad at the winter break.
